Microsoft Word AI is Terrible

I wanted to a make printable form with a weekly meal planner. I thought I would try out the AI assistant that is now included in Microsoft Office. I wrote out this prompt, to see what it came up with …

I want to create a landscape a4 page with a weekly meal planner on the left half, and a shopping list on the right side, with a line down the centre to fold in half, leaving the two sections on the front and back of the page.

I thought it was pretty clear, but holy smokes, did the AI ever do a piss poor job!

I mean, really!

I tried the same prompt with ChatGPT and came up with this.

Better, I guess, but still pretty poor.

Quite possibly using better prompts I could come up with something using AI, but I’m thinking that creating it manually will be a better option at this point.

Well, 30-minutes in Word and I got that. Much better than AI, and exactly what I needed. Given how little I use Word, probably something that someone proficient in Microsoft Word could whip up in a matter of minutes.

Again, could be my lack of practice with AI, but there is certainly a long way to go to make AI easily usable for people like me …

Agreed on the pathetic quality of all that “help” from AI in Word
    Examples:
I wrote: Rita drove Word AI “correction”: Rita “droves”
I wrote: The place where Word AI correction: The place “were”

No other way to see it. This AI crap is plain wrong – and stupid.
