Try this (from canon website)

If the light on the printer flashes orange 7 times after closing the printer's front cover, you may need to reseat the print head.

1. Open the printer's front cover.

2. Press and hold the RESUME button until the print head moves to the center.

3. Lift the gray locking lever.

4. Remove the print head from the printer.

5. Lower the lock lever and turn the printer off.

6. Turn the printer on again.

7. Lift the gray locking lever, and slide the print head into the holder until it is securely seated.

8. Firmly lower the gray lock lever until it locks into place.

9. Close the front cover.

I can't purge a document. I have a home canon i350. I've remove the program via control panel and re-installed. It didn't help. I tried to do a test page and won't print. Remains in queu and says printing, but not. I can pause it and it will show as paused. I was getting 1 green and 7 orange flashes. Now 1 green and 1 orange flash seven times the holds a second and starts over.
I tried the dos screen and 1 file copy ok. All is started but stuck. Ink is full. This happend yesterday. I can turn off and on and the ink goes to the printing side ready to print a unknown document. Please help.

You also can restart the Print Spooler service from a command prompt:

   1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

   2. Type the following commands at the command prompt:
      net stop spooler
      net start spooler
      exit

( Note: Press ENTER after each command line.)
